A fresh encounter broke in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Wednesday (12 June), resulting in a soldier being injured.

This marks the fourth terror attack in Jammu region over the past three days, and the second in the Doda district of the division since Tuesday (11 June).

On 9 June, terrorists launched an attack on pilgrims in Reasi, which led to the death of nine people. On Tuesday (11 June), security forces engaged in an encounter with terrorists in the Kathua region.

According to a senior police officer, a group of three to four terrorists were spotted in the higher reaches of Doda. A search operation was underway to neutralise them, despite the challenging terrain.

Five soldiers from the Rashtriya Rifles and a special police officer (SPO) were injured on Tuesday night when terrorists attacked a joint checkpoint in the upper reaches of Chattergalla on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road.

In another incident late on Tuesday, a suspected Pakistani terrorist was killed by security forces in Kathua district.

The overnight encounter ended after a second terrorist was also gunned down on Wednesday. A CRPF soldier was killed in action.

On Sunday (9 June), terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge in Reasi, killing nine and injuring 41.
