France has stepped in to provide military intelligence to Ukraine after the United States (US) announced a suspension of intelligence sharing with Kyiv, French Defence Minister Sébastien Lecornu confirmed on Thursday (6 March), as reported by The Hindu.

The US decision, announced on 5 March, temporarily halts the flow of crucial battlefield intelligence that Ukraine has relied on to track Russian troop movements and identify strategic targets.

However, Trump administration officials have indicated that the suspension may be lifted soon, following ongoing talks between Washington and Kyiv.

Additionally, in response to Washington’s broader suspension of military aid to Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron has instructed the Defence Ministry to accelerate French aid packages to compensate for the lack of American support.

Lecornu also noted that Ukraine-bound aid shipments via Poland had been suspended following the US decision. However, he expressed confidence in Ukraine’s ability to endure the situation, stating, “Ukrainians, unfortunately, have learned to fight this war for three years now and know how to stockpile.”
