Vande Bharat Express
To manage the festive rush during Ganesh Chaturthi, Indian Railways has announced a temporary increase in coach composition for the Mumbai CSMT–Madgaon Vande Bharat Express.
The train, operated and maintained by Central Railway (CR), will run with 16 coaches instead of 8 on select dates in August, The Indian Express reported.
In a statement, CR said the decision was taken for the convenience of passengers.
Train No. 22229 Mumbai CSMT–Madgaon Vande Bharat Express will run with 16 coaches on 25, 27 and 29 August, while Train No. 22230 Madgaon–Mumbai CSMT will run with 16 coaches on 26, 28 and 30 August.
The Mumbai–Madgaon Vande Bharat Express covers a distance of 765 km in 10 hours and 35 minutes, making it the fastest train on this route.
The train offers two classes of travel – AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car.
Fares are Rs 1,835 for an AC Chair Car seat and Rs 3,375 for an Executive Chair Car seat on the Mumbai–Madgaon stretch.
The train departs from Mumbai CSMT at 05.25 hours and arrives in Madgaon at 16:00 hours.
On the return leg, it leaves Madgaon at 12.20 hours and reaches Mumbai CSMT at 22.30 hour. It runs three times a week in each direction.
