Kapil Sangwan, a notorious gangster currently residing in the United Kingdom, has admitted to his role in the assassination of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Nafe Singh Rathi, who was fatally shot near Bahadurgarh railway crossing in Jhajjar on Sunday (25 February).

Known as Nandu, Sangwan made this revelation on social media, boldly claiming responsibility for plotting Nafe Singh's murder as per a report by The Economic Times.

He alleged a close connection between Nafe Singh and gangster Manjeet Mahal, accusing Nafe Singh of collaborating with Mahal's brother Sanjay in activities such as property acquisition and aiding Mahal in the killing of Sangwan's brother-in-law and associates.

In a chilling warning, Sangwan threatened severe consequences for those supporting his adversaries, asserting that anyone backing his enemies would face deadly retaliation.

He claimed that everyone in Bahadurgarh knew about the people Nafe Singh had captured and killed during his reign, stating, "No one could raise their voice because of his power."

The Haryana government has vowed to vigorously pursue the perpetrators responsible for Nafe Singh's murder, promising stringent measures to ensure justice is served. Consequently, the Haryana police have transferred the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), indicating the seriousness of the case.

Kapil Sangwan, originally from Najafgarh, has been involved in a long-standing feud with the Mahal faction, resulting in numerous casualties over the years.

He fled to the UK in 2020 using fraudulent documentation, evading arrest despite being wanted for multiple extortion charges and gang-related homicides, leading to international pursuit through a red-corner notice.

Using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, Sangwan continues to issue extortion demands from London.

The police are investigating his possible involvement in the assassination of Najafgarh Zila Kisan Morcha president Surendra Matiala, who was actively involved in local politics.
