Gurugram Metro Seeks Land Clearance For 10 Stations In Phase-1 Connecting Millennium City Centre

Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has sought clearance from the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to utilise over 5,800 square metres of land for the construction of 10 metro stations under Phase 1 of the new corridor, TOI reported.

The Rs 1,286 crore Phase 1 will see 14 elevated stations built across a 15.2 km stretch from Millennium City Centre to Sector 9, with a spur leading to Sector 101 on Dwarka Expressway.

The full 28.5 km corridor, including the Basai spur, will eventually link Millennium City Centre to Cyber City through 27 stations, at a total estimated cost of Rs 5,452 crore.

GMRL has already submitted architectural drawings for stations at Millennium City Centre (574 sqm), Sector 45 (889 sqm), Subhash Chowk (518 sqm), Sector 33 (370 sqm), Udyog Vihar Phase 6 (628 sqm), Sector 10 (720 sqm), Sector 37 (323 sqm), Basai Village (930 sqm entry and 183.5 sqm median), Sector 9 (279 sqm) and Sector 101 (371 sqm). These parcels are essential for building entrances, staircases and lift access points.

Most station infrastructure will utilise existing ROW, already in GMRL’s possession. However, integration of the Bakhtawar Chowk underpass into the project delayed the start of civil work, now expected in June. The underpass alone is expected to cost Rs 60 crore.

HSVP has also allotted 5.25 hectares in Sector 33 for GMRL’s casting yard to facilitate precast metro components. “The tender for phase 1 will open on May 15. We are also in the process of finalising the general consultant for the project,” the official added.
