Gurugram Metro Set For Major Expansion With Rs 5,452 Crore Investment: Report

The Gurugram Metro is poised for a significant expansion with a Rs 5,452.72 crore investment, aiming to strengthen connectivity across Millennium City Centre, Old Gurugram, and Cyber City.

The ambitious project will introduce 27 new stations along a 28.5 km route, enhancing urban mobility and reducing congestion in the rapidly growing metropolis, reported Republic World.

The expansion work is scheduled to commence on 1 May 2025, with funding from both the central and state governments.

The Haryana government will bear the majority of the cost with an investment of Rs 4,556.53 crore, while the central government will contribute Rs 896.19 crore towards the project.

This initiative is expected to cater to nearly 540,000 daily commuters, with ridership projections rising to 726,000 by 2031.

In addition to boosting the local economy, the development will include the construction of five underpasses and flyovers, ensuring smoother traffic flow across Gurugram.

It will also adopt a Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling system, which promises enhanced safety, efficiency, and reliability in metro operations.

Authorities have assured that construction will begin soon, marking a crucial step towards modernising Gurugram’s transport infrastructure.

Residents can anticipate a seamless public transit experience, improving daily commutes and fostering sustainable urban growth.

The project is expected to be completed within four years, which will help Gurugram’s status as a key economic and transit hub.
