Hemant Soren To Take Oath As Jharkhand CM On Tuesday; Set To Meet Governor Today To Stake Claim To Form Government

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren will reportedly take oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the fourth time on 26 November.
Soren is scheduled to meet Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar at 4 pm today (24 November) and will formally stake claim to form the government, India Today reported citing sources.
The swearing-in event is anticipated to be a grand occasion, with prominent opposition leaders from the INDI Alliance bloc, such as Congress' Rahul Gandhi, TMC's Mamata Banerjee, SP's Akhilesh Yadav, AAP's Arvind Kejriwal, and RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, among others, expected to participate.
The INDI Alliance is set for a second consecutive term in power in Jharkhand as the JMM bagged 34 seats, Congress won 16, RJD secured 4, and CPI-ML gained 2 seats in the state assembly elections.
Earlier in 2024, Soren resigned as chief minister and was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate over allegations of corruption linked to mining leases.
He was granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court after spending a few months in prison.
After his release, Soren returned to his role as Chief Minister and revitalised the JMM-Congress coalition, overcoming anti-incumbency and achieving an impressive victory in the assembly elections.
