Himachal Eateries ID Controversy: Vikramaditya Singh Meets Congress Chief Kharge, Says No Compromise On Congress' Core Principles

Following a controversy stirred by his remarks regarding mandatory ID card displays at eateries and food stalls in Himachal Pradesh, Vikramaditya Singh, the state's PWD and Urban Development Minister, on Sunday (29 September) met with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi.
Singh also met Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal and Himachal Congress co-incharge Rajeev Shukla in a bid to clarify his stance on the comments.
During his meeting with Kharge, Singh highlighted the importance of advancing the party’s activities and strengthening the state’s internal security, Indian Express reported citing sources.
"He stated that strengthening the party and working towards the state’s development are his top priorities, which will be pursued with full commitment,” the sources said.
“I raised sensitive issues pertaining to the internal security of Himachal Pradesh with Kharge ji. He listened to me patiently. I assured him that all Congress workers are dedicated soldiers of the party. There will be no compromise on the core principles of the Congress," Singh was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
This development follows the CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government’s decision to distance itself from Vikramaditya Singh’s earlier statement, maintaining that there is no official directive mandating food stall owners to display nameplates.
