In a big boost to connectivity in Himachal, the state government has floated the tenders for development of ropeway projects in Shimla district.
The first project for which the tender has been issued is for the development, operations and maintenance of "Innovative Urban Ropeway transport Network in Shimla project (Phase 2) on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) Mode".
The project entails constructing an aerial ropeway transit network in Shimla, including stations and the network management system to provide efficient, safe and eco-friendly mobility within the city.
The project will decongest road traffic through transport modal shift and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to enhanced mobility and efficient transportation in Shimla city.
The value of the tender, issued by Ropeways and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation H.P. Ltd, is Rs 3,500 crore and the final date for submission of the bids is 4 March 2025.
The tender, issued by the Ropeways and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation H.P. Ltd, is for the development, operations and maintenance of passenger Narkhana-Hatu peak Ropeway on "Design, Build, Finance, Operation and Operate Transfer (DBFOT) mode".
According to the document, the value of the tender is Rs 206 crore.
The last date for submission of the bids is 4 March 2025.
The tentative length of the Narkanda-Hatu Peak Ropeway is 3.10 km.
