Himanta Cabinet Approves Assam’s First Integrated Clean Energy Policy, Mega Industrial Park In Morigaon And New National Park

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday (16 February) announced that the state cabinet has given its approval for several key initiatives, including a mega industrial park, a clean energy policy, and the creation of a new national park, as reported by Business Standard.

These decisions, aimed at fostering economic growth and environmental sustainability, were taken during a cabinet meeting held in Guwahati.

Mega Industrial Park in Morigaon

The Assam government has resolved to allocate 569 bighas (over 188 acres) of land in Morigaon district to establish a mega industrial park which is expected to boost industrial development and generate employment opportunities in the region.

New National Park Between Raimona and Manas

In a significant environmental move, the Assam cabinet has approved the notification of a new national park, named Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park, which will be spread across 316.29 sq km in Chirang and Kokrajhar districts. The park, situated between Raimona and Manas National Parks, is expected to enhance biodiversity conservation efforts and boost eco-tourism in the region.

Other Key Decisions

Additionally, the cabinet has approved postgraduate increments for Ayurvedic doctors who have successfully completed a three-year PG course.

Further, the government has given the green light for the establishment of Swami Vivekananda University in Chirang district, under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
