After the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) landmark victory in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed party workers at the BJP headquarters, calling it a "special mandate" that marks a new era for Delhi.

He thanked the people of Delhi for their trust in the party, promising to bring the capital back on the path of development.

"A New History Has Been Written in Delhi"

Reflecting on the BJP’s struggle to establish a stronghold in Delhi, PM Modi said, “Even after getting 100 per cent success in three Lok Sabha elections, our workers had the pain of not being able to serve Delhi fully. This desire, too, Delhi has fulfilled this time," Indian Express reported.

He also noted that after BJP’s victories in Haryana and Maharashtra, Delhi has now scripted history by giving BJP full control in the National Capital Region (NCR).

“After victory in the Lok Sabha, we made new records in Haryana and Maharashtra. Now a new history has been written in Delhi,” he said.

BJP’s ‘Santushtikaran’ Over ‘Tushtikaran’

Highlighting the ideological shift in Indian politics, PM Modi said, “The country is choosing the BJP’s santushtikaran (satisfaction) instead of tushtikaran (appeasement) today.”

"We Will Build Delhi as a Modern city"

PM Modi criticised the state of Delhi’s infrastructure, pointing out issues like broken roads, garbage accumulation, and air pollution.

He pledged that BJP’s governance will transform Delhi into a modern, world-class city.

He also emphasised that for the first time, BJP will have a government in every NCR state, ensuring coordinated development across the region.

Corruption Charges to be Investigated

PM Modi also issued a strong warning against corruption, promising that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on Delhi will be placed in Parliament.

He said, “Each charge of corruption will be probed, and those who have looted will have to return the loot. This is Modi’s guarantee.”

Attacking AAP, PM Modi said, “A party that was formed to rid India of corruption became completely corrupt themselves.”

Attack on Congress

Taking a jibe on the Congress after the party failed to win even a single seat in the Delhi Assembly polls, PM Modi said that India's grand old party has achieved a "double hattrick" of defeats in the Delhi elections.

"The Congress has achieved a double hat-trick in Delhi elections. The oldest party has not been able to open its account in the national capital six times in a row. The truth is that the country is not ready to trust the Congress," PM Modi said.

"I had said that it is a parasitic party that drowns and makes its allies drown. It destroys its allies. It steals their agendas. And it wants to steal their vote banks," he added.
