Home Ministry Clears BSF Participation In Dhaka Talks With BGB, First Indian Delegation Visit Since Fall of Sheikh Hasina Govt

The Ministry of Home Affairs has authorised the BSF to participate in the 56th Director General–level Border Co-ordination Conference organised by BGB in Dhaka from 25 August to 28, following an invitation earlier this month, reported The Indian Express.
This trip marks the first visit by an Indian delegation to Dhaka since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government in 2024.
“The 56th director general level border co-ordination conference between the BSF and BGB will be organised by the BGB in Dhaka between 25 August and 28," a BSF spokesman was quoted as saying in the IE report.
During the conference, officials will actively address several pressing matters.
They will deliberate on preventing attacks or assaults on BSF personnel and Indian civilians by Bangladesh-based miscreants.
The agenda includes discussions on countering operations by Indian insurgent groups (IIGs) operating in Bangladesh, improving border infrastructure, and implementing the Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP).
Officials also aim to advance confidence-building measures (CBM) and address other relevant concerns, as outlined by a BSF spokesman.
“During the course of the conference, discussions will be held on prevention against attack/assault on BSF personnel and Indian civilians by Bangladesh-based miscreants/nationals, how to prevent trans-border crimes, construction of single row fence, action against Indian insurgent groups (IIGs) in Bangladesh, issues related to border infrastructure, joint efforts for effective implementation of coordinated border management plan (CBMP), confidence building measures (CBM) and other issues," the spokesperson said.
