Home Ministry Directs CBI To Probe Corruption In Functioning Of AAP's Mohalla Clinics In Delhi: Report

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been directed by the Home Ministry to investigate alleged corruption in the operations of Delhi's Mohalla Clinics, the flagship healthcare project of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V K Saxena on Thursday (4 January) asked the CBI to probe into corruption claims regarding diagnostic tests conducted at Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics.

The Mohalla Clinics allegedly ran fake radiology and pathology tests without any patients.

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj had also flagged the matter on 20 September, following which seven doctors posted at Mohalla Clinics were removed.

The Delhi government is likely to remove the health secretary, NDTV reported citing sources.

A few days earlier, LG Saxena had ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct an additional inquiry into the alleged supply of substandard medicines to Delhi government hospitals.

Preliminary investigations into the Mohalla Clinic case revealed that physicians, despite their absence, were recorded as present. Furthermore, the clinics were found to be issuing diagnostic tests for non-existent patients.
