During a press conference, American President Joe Biden argued that immigrants have contributed to the strength of the United States, attributing economic stagnation in countries like China, Japan, Russia, and India to "xenophobia".

Biden made these remarks at a fundraising event in Washington, which coincided with the beginning of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

“Why is China stalling so badly economically, why is Japan having trouble, why is Russia, why is India, because they are xenophobic. They don’t want immigrants. Immigrants are what makes us strong," Biden was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

Since taking office, Biden has implemented more lenient immigration policies compared to the Trump administration. He has eased restrictions on migrants and introduced new "parole" policies to allow certain migrants to enter the country legally for humanitarian reasons.

However, Biden's approach to immigration has faced criticism, particularly regarding unemployment and immigration issues.

A poll conducted by the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that over half of US adults believe that Biden's presidency has negatively impacted the country in terms of the cost of living and immigration.
