In a significant political development, the INDI alliance in Bihar, comprising major parties like the RJD, Congress, and Left parties, has finalised its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The alliance announced on Friday (29 March) that the RJD will contest 26 of Bihar's 40 Lok Sabha seats, with the Congress set to field candidates in nine seats and the Left parties allotted five seats.

The Congress will field its candidates in Katihar, Kishanganj, Patna Sahib, Sasaram, Bhagalpur, West Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur and Maharajganj seats.

The Left will contest from Begusarai, Khagaria, Aarh, Karakat and Nalanda.

This comes as the NDA had already finalised its seat-sharing pact, with the BJP set to contest from 17 seats, and the JD(U) will fight in 16.

Lok Sabha elections for the 40 seats in Bihar will be held in seven phases on 19 April, 26 April, 7 May, 13 May, 20 May, 25 May, and 1 June. Votes will be counted on 4 June.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress managed to secure only one seat, while both the RJD and Left parties did not win any seats.

In contrast, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising the BJP and Janata Dal (United), dominated the polls, securing 17 and 16 seats respectively.
