The opposition INDI Alliance bloc is poised to deliver a significant blow to the ruling BJP in the by-elections for 13 Assembly seats across seven states.

The opposition front has secured victories in ten seats while the BJP managed to win only two seats, with an independent candidate defeating NDA candidate in Bihar.

The bypolls, held on 10 July, covered four seats in West Bengal, three in Himachal Pradesh, two in Uttarakhand, and one each in Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu.

In West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), an ally of the INDIA bloc, won all the four assembly constituencies, Raiganj, Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagda, and Maniktala, that went for bypolls.

The Congress won two seats, Dehra and Nalagarh, in Himachal Pradesh, while BJP won the Hamirpur seat.

In Uttarakhand, Congress won both Badrinath and Manglaur seats, defeating BJP candidates.

DMK, another INDI Alliance partner, won the Vikravandi seat in Tamil Nadu.

The BJP managed to win the Amarwara seat in Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, in Bihar, an independent candidate has registered a victory over the NDA partner JD(U) in Rupauli.

These results are being seen as a litmus test for the BJP, which is still reeling from the shock of not securing a majority in the Lok Sabha elections last month.

The strong performance by the INDI Alliance bloc signals a shift in voter sentiment and has the potential to influence future political dynamics in these states.
