News Brief
Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar
A no-confidence motion filed by members of Opposition INDI Alliance against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar was dismissed by the deputy chairman of the Upper House.
The motion was rejected on the grounds that a 14-day notice was not given and Dhankhar's name was not spelt correctly.
According to sources cited in an NDTV report, the motion was bought to create a narrative against the person holding the second-highest constitutional post.
The further added that a joint press conference was also held to create a narrative against the Vice President.
Deputy Chairman Harivansh explained the grounds for rejecting the motion, saying that a 14-day notice, which is mandatory to move such a motion, was not given.
Dhankhar's name, he said, was also not spelt correctly.
