The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) responded firmly to Canada's allegations of India violating the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, as Ottawa decided to recall 41 diplomats due to increasing tensions with New Delhi.

As reported by Livemint, the MEA pointed out that the implementation of parity aligns with Article 11.1 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and strongly rebuffed any claims of this parity constituting a breach of international norms.

In the past month, collaborative efforts between India and Canada have been underway to define the specifics and procedures for implementing such parity.

The relationship between India and Canada has witnessed a decline, triggered by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's recent statement linking Indian intelligence to the murder of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar, an allegation New Delhi categorically dismissed as "absurd."
