India Records Highest Single-Day Covid-19 Vaccination With 43 Lakh Doses Administered In Last 24 Hours

Over 43 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered in a single day on Monday (5 April) as the Covid-19 vaccination coverage in the country surpassed 8.3 crore mark, according to the Health Ministry.

As many as 43,00,966 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered to the beneficiaries on Monday, the highest number since the Covid-19 vaccination rolled out in India on 16 January.

Of the total vaccinated in last 24 hours, 39,00,505 beneficiaries were administered the first dose of the vaccine while 4,00,461 received the second dose.


Of the total 8.31 crore doses, as many as 7,22,77,309 beneficiaries have been administered the first dose of the vaccines while 1,08,33,617 people have recieved the second jab so far, the health ministry data revealed.

India had rolled out the first phase of the vaccination drive on 16 January for the front line workers and health care workers. The second phase was kicked off on 1 March and involved vulnerable population including people above 60 year and those above 45 with co-morbidities. Later, from 1 April, the vaccination drive was further extended by including all above 45 years.
