India’s active COVID-19 case count has risen to 3,961, with 203 new cases reported since Sunday (1 June), according to the Health Ministry’s Covid-19 dashboard. Deaths linked to the virus have been reported in Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Kerala, as reported by NDTV.
Kerala continues to lead the tally with 1,435 active cases, followed by Maharashtra at 506. Maharashtra reported three deaths. Delhi currently has 483 active cases and two fatalities.
Gujarat and West Bengal have reported 338 and 331 cases respectively. Karnataka has 253, while Tamil Nadu reported 189 cases and two comorbidity-related deaths. Uttar Pradesh records 157 active cases, Rajasthan 69, Puducherry 38, Haryana 28, and Punjab 6.
Hospitals are enhancing readiness. At RML Hospital in Delhi, Dr Pawan Kumar, head of the COVID-19 unit, stated, “We are fully prepared with a 9-bed isolation ward. Four Covid-19 positive patients were being treated at the hospital. They have been discharged yesterday after recovery. At present, we have no active COVID cases.”
Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, assured that both departments are monitoring the situation. “We’ve reviewed the infrastructure built during the earlier Covid waves, such as oxygen plants and ICU beds, and have already begun preparations.”
The ministry continues to encourage vigilance while reiterating there is no cause for alarm.
