In a significant advancement for India’s defence capabilities, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy on Friday (13 September) successfully conducted second consecutive flight tests of the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VLSRSAM).

The second test of the VLRSAM took place from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha.

This test demonstrated the missile's precision and ability to neutralise challenging targets, following a similar success the day before on Thursday (12 September), when the VLSRSAM engaged another low-altitude target effectively.

"These consecutive tests not only demonstrate the weapon system’s reliability but also validate the recent upgrades made to various components of the system," the Ministry of Defence said in a release.
