India will soon hold a major tri-service military exercise named ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ in the high-altitude terrain of Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh, aimed at boosting operational coordination, technological integration, and combat preparedness among the Army, Navy, and Air Force, the Indian Express reported, citing Defence sources.

Defence PRO Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said the exercise is intended to refine interoperability, enhance situational awareness, and validate command-and-control structures for joint missions. He noted that it will emphasise multi-domain integration across land, air, and maritime operations to strengthen joint warfighting capabilities and readiness for future conflicts.

A major highlight of the exercise will be the coordinated use of special forces, unmanned aerial platforms, precision weapon systems, and networked operations centres functioning together in realistic, high-altitude environments.

These elements will simulate modern battlefield conditions, testing India’s ability to conduct synchronised operations under challenging terrain and weather.

The exercise will also evaluate revised tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) designed to improve combat agility and adaptability.

According to officials, the integration of cutting-edge surveillance and communication systems will play a key role in achieving seamless coordination between services.

Together, these exercises form part of a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening joint operational frameworks and enhancing national security preparedness along the country’s eastern borders.

Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh has rapidly emerged as a prominent venue for adventure and high-altitude sports, with the state government significantly promoting its events, including through cinema advertisements and social media campaigns.

In April 2025, Mechuka hosted the 3rd National Adventure Racing Championship, India's first-ever border adventure race. The event was part of the Adventure Racing World Series (ARWS) Asia and served as a qualifier for the ARWS Asia Championship.
