Indian Army Gets 419 New Officers After Grand Passing Out Parade At IMA Dehradun
IMA Passing Out Parade
In a ceremony at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun on Saturday (14 June) , 419 young officeers were formally commissioned into the Indian Army.
The grand Passing Out Parade, held in front of the iconic Chetwode Building, marked the culmination of their rigorous training and the beginning of their journey as military leaders.
A total of 451 Gentleman Cadets participated in the parade, including 32 cadets from friendly foreign countries.
These international cadets, now graduates of one of India’s premier military training institutions, will return to serve in their respective national armies.
The event was reviewed by Lieutenant General B K G M Lasantha Rodrigo, Chief of the Sri Lankan Army, who attended the occasion as the Reviewing Officer.
Lt Gen Rodrigo was commissioned into Sri Lankan Army in December 1990 after after completing his training from the IMA as part of the academy's 87th Course.
He reminded the Officer Cadets that they will not only wear a rank, but embrace a new way of life with three unshakable responsibilities which they must uphold, first to the Nation, second to the Soldiers and third to the Families of Bravehearts.
He also highlighted that the Foreign Officer Cadets are the brand ambassadors of the values of IMA that will transcend borders.
Lt Gen Rodrigo was on a four-day official visit to India from 11 to 14 June 2025, reinforcing the longstanding and robust military ties between the two Armies.
