President-elect Donald J Trump on Sunday (22 December) announced the appointment of Indian-origin entrepreneur Sriram Krishnan as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “Sriram Krishnan will focus on ensuring continued American leadership in AI and help shape and coordinate AI policy across Government, including working with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.”

Krishnan, a former Microsoft employee and aide to Elon Musk, will collaborate closely with David Sacks, another prominent figure in technology and policy. Responding to the announcement, Krishnan expressed his gratitude and commitment to the role.

“I'm honored to be able to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI, working closely with David Sacks. Thank you, @realDonaldTrump, for this opportunity,” he posted on X.


Krishnan’s career spans leading roles at top tech firms, including Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter, and Snap. At Microsoft, he was a founding member of Windows Azure, and at Facebook, he built the Facebook Audience Network, a major competitor to Google’s ad technologies. At Twitter, he spearheaded product innovations that drove significant user growth.

In 2021, Krishnan joined Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) as a general partner, focusing on investments in emerging technologies like Web3 and AI. He gained further prominence in 2022 for his work with Elon Musk on Twitter’s transformation following Musk’s acquisition of the platform.

Beyond his professional achievements, Krishnan co-hosts the popular podcast The Aarthi and Sriram Show with his wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy.

Featuring high-profile guests like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the podcast has garnered millions of downloads. The couple, often referred to as a "tech power duo," currently resides in London.
