Indian Railways has announced the operation of 150 special trains to manage the increased travel demand during the festive season, reported The Hindu.
Running from 21 September to 30 November, these trains will operate during festivals like Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.
A total of 2,024 trips will be covered across multiple States.
Southern Railway will operate 48 trains, completing 684 trips from cities like Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Vijayawada.
East Central Railway will run 14 trains covering 588 trips, passing through Bihar’s key stations, including Patna and Gaya.
Eastern Railway will manage 24 trains and 198 trips, mainly from Kolkata, Sealdah, and Howrah.
Western Railway will run 24 special trains from Mumbai, Surat, and Vadodara, fulfilling 204 trips.
North Central Railway will operate special trains via Prayagraj and Kanpur.
The Railways has scheduled 12,000 train trips specifically for Bihar.
“While the Railways has announced the operation of these services, it is notifying the calendar in a staggered fashion. For now the calendar consisting of 2,024 trips has been notified, including Bihar. We are updating the calendar on a regular basis after studying the demand and supply of train services in key States,” said a Railways spokesperson.
The Railways urgeed passengers to book tickets well in advance for confirmed travel. A detailed calendar, including routes and timings, is available on the IRCTC website and at railway stations.
