India is set to enhance its position in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) with a targeted ranking in the top 25 by 2030, according to a recent report, reported PTI.

Currently ranked 38th out of 139 countries, India aims to strengthen its logistics infrastructure through initiatives like PM GatiShakti and the National Logistics Policy.

The study, released by Messe Stuttgart India in collaboration with EAC International Consulting, highlights how these infrastructure developments will be key to improving the nation's logistics performance.

The report was unveiled ahead of LogiMAT India 2025, scheduled for 13-15 February at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai.

India's freight and logistics market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 8.8 per cent, reaching $484.43 billion by 2029, up from $317.26 billion in 2024.

To achieve this, the report underscores the need for enhanced infrastructure and streamlined supply chains.

Aligned with the Amrit Kaal vision, India is progressing towards multi-modal transformation, including high-speed roads, hyperloops, and new airports, all aimed at reducing transport times by 66 per cent and enhancing logistics competitiveness.

Under PM Gati Shakti, 434 projects worth Rs 11.17 lakh crore have been identified to improve logistics efficiency, focusing on key economic corridors.

The report also stresses the importance of technological advancements and a coordinated effort between the government and private sector to overcome infrastructure gaps and achieve India’s global logistics leadership.
