Poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor has slammed the ongoing narrative of Rahul Gandhi's revival after Lok Sabha elections, drawing a stark comparison with the late prime minister and Congress leader Indira Gandhi's performance.

Kishor pointed out that Indira Gandhi's worst-ever performance as the leader of the Congress was far better than what party has got under Rahul Gandhi's leadership in the recently held Lok Sabha elections.

In an interview with News24, when asked if Congress has revived by winning 99 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, Kishor said, "No, it hasn't happened at all. Let me give you some context. Many people think that the Congress party has revived".

"This shows that Rahul Gandhi has a long way to go before he is seen as a powerful political force in India," the poll strategist added.

Asked about if Rahul Gandhi was "PM Material", Kishore said, "Whether Rahul Gandhi has what it takes is something that two groups of people need to decide. The Congress members have to decide if he has the ability to lead Congress; it’s clear that they believe he does. But whether he has the ability to lead the nation is something the people of this country need to decide, and in my understanding, he still has a long road ahead".
