Various threatening emails received by schools in Bengaluru two weeks ago have been traced to Pakistan. As reported by Deccan Herald, police officials said that the mails that spoke of bombs planted in the schools were sent from a West Asian country and the main server in the mail chain has been found to be located in Pakistan.
Ten Gmail IDs were used to send the emails. While the identity of the e-mailers is being traced, reports say that the role of terror organisation ISIS too is suspected.
Around 15 schools in Karnataka’s capital city and its outskirts received bomb threats through e-mail on the morning of 8 April, triggering panic among students, parents and school managements. This was later declared as a hoax by the police after conducting searches.
The e-mail to the schools had read, 'A very powerful bomb has been planted in your school, attention is not a joke, this is not a joke, a very powerful bomb has been planted in your school, immediately call the police and sappers, hundreds of lives may suffer, including yours, do not delay, now everything is only in your hands!'
In order to ’send a strong message‘ to senders of such hoax messages, the city police had filed cyber terrorism charges under Section 66(f) of the Information Technology (IT) Act, said city Commissioner of Police Kamal Pant, as per earlier reports.
