Israel is launching a recruitment drive in India to hire 10,000 construction workers and 5,000 caregivers.

This move follows a similar request from earlier this year.

The National Skill Development Corporation said that Israel approached India recently to carry out a recruitment drive again for 10,000 construction workers and 5,000 caregivers simultaneously to plug the skill gap in infrastructure and health sectors.

The NSDC stated that Israel's Population, Immigration, and Border Authority (PIBA) has put in a request across four specific job roles: Framework, Iron Bending, Plastering, and Ceramic Tiling.

A team from PIBA, including assessors, is expected to visit India in the coming week to conduct necessary skill tests for selecting those who meet their criteria and skill requisites.

The second phase of the recruitment drive for construction workers is scheduled to take place in Maharashtra, the NSDC added.

In addition to construction workers, Israel is seeking 5,000 caregivers to strengthen its healthcare sector.

Candidates who have passed at least their 10th standard, and hold a certificate from a recognised Indian institute, and have completed a caregiving course with at least 990 hours of on-the-job training are eligible to apply, as per NSDC.

Those selected will earn a salary of Rs 1.92 lakh per month, along with medical insurance, food, and accommodation. A bonus of Rs 16,515 per month is also provided to these candidates.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) reached out to all states to carry out recruitment after the government-to-government (G2G) agreement was signed in November 2023.

The first round of the recruitment drive was conducted in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Telangana.

This agreement followed a broader Framework Agreement on the Temporary Employment of Indians, signed between India and Israel in May 2023.

All candidates recruited through the G2G pathway must complete a pre-departure orientation training programme, which includes a guide on Israeli culture and lifestyle to help them adapt to their new environment.

This international recruitment initiative aligns with the government's vision to make India the Skill Capital of the world.
