ISRO Chief Seeks Divine Blessings At Tirumala Temple Ahead Of Satellite Launch Mission On 18 May

ISRO Chairman V Narayanan on Friday (16 May) offered prayers at Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, seeking divine blessings for the successful launch of the PSLV-C61/EOS-09 remote sensing satellite mission.

The PSLV-C61/EOS-09 mission is slated for liftoff at 5.59 am on 18 May from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

During an early morning VIP darshan, Narayanan placed a miniature PSLV-C61 model at the feet of Lord Venkateswara as part of a ritual, seeking blessings for the mission's success and safety.

Vedic scholars offered blessings at the Ranganayakula Mandapam, while temple officials presented Tirtha Prasadam (holy water) and honoured Narayanan with a silk shawl.

The EOS-09 satellite is set to be deployed into a Sun-Synchronous Polar Orbit, enabling it to maintain a consistent alignment with the Sun.

As per ISRO, this launch will be the 63rd PSLV mission overall and the 27th using its PSLV-XL variant, reaffirming the vehicle’s strong track record in delivering diverse payloads to varied orbits.

ISRO said that EOS-09 is designed to deliver consistent and reliable remote sensing data for a range of operational applications across various sectors.
