The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police on Monday (28 April) launched a series of raids across 13 locations in Doda district, intensifying efforts to dismantle terrorist hideouts and apprehend individuals linked to terror activities, ANI reported.

The action follows the devastating Pahalgam terror attack, with the perpetrators still on the run.

Simultaneously, the Srinagar Police carried out extensive searches across the city at the residences of 63 individuals suspected to be Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and associates of proscribed terrorist outfits.

The searches were part of investigations into cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

According to a police statement, the searches were conducted in accordance with proper legal procedures in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses under the supervision of the officers of J&K Police.

Meanwhile, the tragic events in Pahalgam have cast a shadow over the region’s tourism sector.

Rakesh Wazir, president of the Hotel and Restaurant Association in Katra, revealed, "The Pahalgam terrorist attack has had a significant impact on the entire booking. Bookings are getting cancelled continuously. According to our assessment, about 35 to 37 per cent of bookings have been cancelled so far. The number of people in the yatra has been reduced to merely 20,000 to 22,000 from 45,000."

In a separate news, the Government of India, acting on the Ministry of Home Affairs’ recommendation, banning 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including Dawn News, Samaa TV, ARY News, and Geo News, for spreading provocative, communally sensitive content and misinformation against the country and its security forces.
