The Jharkhand Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has issued a high-level alert after uncovering intelligence that Bangladesh-based terrorists illegally entered the state, conducted training sessions for recruits in Pakur, and later returned across the border, as reported by New Indian Express.
The revelation has raised serious concerns about anti-India terror conspiracies being orchestrated by banned militant organiations following the political transition in Bangladesh.
According to ATS intelligence, Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorist Abdul Mammun infiltrated India through Dhuliyan in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district and arrived in Pakur on 6 January 2025.
During his stay, he held a meeting with members of JAHA-India at the Islami Dawa Centre in Dubrajpur and provided terrorist training to 15 local recruits. The intelligence report further states that Mammun left India on 7 January via the Dhuliyan route, returning to Bangladesh after completing the training.
Following the revelations, the ATS has issued a directive to Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) across all districts, urging them to collect actionable intelligence and implement strict preventive and precautionary measures to counter potential threats.
Intelligence reports suggest that after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, extremist outfits like JMB have been plotting anti-India terrorist conspiracies by infiltrating Indian states such as Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Police sources have confirmed that the 15 individuals trained in Pakur have been identified, and ATS surveillance has detected links between recruits from Pakur and individuals from Jalangi in Murshidabad, who are suspected of participating in the terror training sessions.
Security forces have intensified surveillance in Sahibganj and Pakur, key areas within the Santhal Pargana region, where JMB has previously been active. Officials have been directed to track underground operatives and sympathizers connected to the group.
The ATS has assured that all efforts are being made to prevent any untoward incidents and that security agencies are closely monitoring sensitive border areas to thwart future infiltration attempts.
