Jharkhand Nears 60 Per Cent Voting Till 3 PM, Highest Voter Turnout In Former CM Champai Soren's Constituency

In the first phase of voting on Wednesday (13 November), Jharkhand's voter turnout was reported to be 59.28 per cent till 3 pm with the highest voting in Saraikella-Kharsawan where former Chief Minister Champai Soren is contesting.

Along with Jharkhand, 31 assembly constituencies and one parliamentary constituency of Kerala's Wayanad are also voting for the bye-elections.

While Wayanad reported a turnout of 51.65 per cent, all assembly constituencies in Assam reported a turnout of per 60 per cent. Neighbouring West Bengal closely followed.


Both Madhya Pradesh constituencies and the lone Meghalaya constituency reported a turnout of over 65 per cent. Chhattisgarh's Raipur City South reported lowest turnout of 39.23 per cent.

The four Bihar constituencies are also lagging behind with less than 50 per cent voting. Of the three Karnataka constituencies, Channapatna reported the highest turnout at 67.63 per cent.
