Official trends show Congress-NC combine crosses majority mark

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trailing in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, with the Congress-NC alliance crossing the majority mark of 46 seats, according to the official data from the Election Commission.

The National Conference is leading on 42 seats while its ally Congress is ahead in 8 constituencies, the Election Commission data showed.

Meanwhile, the BJP is maintaining leads on 28 seats.

The PDP, another major regional party, is trailing with leads on 2 seats, while the People Conference is also ahead on 2 seats.

Congress-NC crosses majority mark: Early Trends

The Congress-National Conference Alliance has cross the majority mark of 46 seats, according to the early trends.

Congress-NC combine is leading on 47 seats, while the BJP is ahead on 26 seats.

The PDP is currently leading on three seats, and independents are ahead on 13 seats.

In an interesting development, Mehbooba Mufti's daughter Iltija Mufti is trailing against the National Conference's Bashir Ahmad Shah (Veeri).

As per the latest official trends, Mufti was trailing by 1847 votes against Shah.

The Congress-National Conference alliance is leading in the early trends.

The Congress-NC combine is currently maintaining leads on 41 seats while BJP is ahead on 28 seats.

Mehbooba Mufti's PDP is ahead on four seats currently.

Counting Begins

The counting of votes for Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Assembly polls in currently underway.

J&K has 90 Assembly seats, making 46 the majority mark.

The elections in J&K, the first in a decade, were held in three phases on 18 September, 25 September and 1 October.

According to India Today-CVoter exit poll, Jammu & Kashmir is expected to see a hung Assembly.

The Congress-NC alliance is likely to win 40–48 seats, while the BJP may secure 27–32 seats, and the Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP is projected to get 6–12 seats.

However, it is important to note that exit polls may not always be correct.
