In a tragic incident on Monday evening in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, a government employee was fatally shot in a targeted terror attack.

Mohammad Razak, who worked at the social welfare department, was attacked outside his residence in the district's Shahdra Sharief area by two Pakistani terrorists. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

During the attack, Razak's brother, a member of the territorial army, was also present with him.

The attackers attempted to kidnap him, but he managed to escape unharmed, according to the police.

According to the police, the terrorists used a US-made M4 rifle and a pistol in the attack.

This incident marks a continuation of violence in the region. Over two decades ago, Razak's father was also a victim of a terror attack in the same area.

The attack follows recent incidents targeting non-locals in the region.

Last week, a migrant worker from Bihar was killed in Anantnag, and the previous week saw an attack on a resident of Dehradun in Shopian district.

In response to a surge in terror activities last year in Rajouri and Poonch, where 20 army soldiers lost their lives, the Army has increased its presence, deploying additional brigades to bolster security.
