The BJP released its second list of 29 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections on Saturday.
This announcement brings the total number of declared candidates to 58 out of the 70 constituencies.
Former AAP leader Kapil Mishra, former AAP leader and known for his advocacy of Hindu causes, has been selected as the BJP candidate for Karawal Nagar.
Meanwhile, sitting BJP MLA Abhay Verma will contest from Lakshmi Nagar.
Neelam Pahalwan has been chosen as the BJP candidate for Najafgarh, a constituency formerly represented by ex-AAP minister Kailash Gahlot.
Gahlot, who joined the BJP last year following differences with the AAP leadership, has been fielded from Bijswasan.
Kapil Mishra took to X and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leadership for his candidature and also exuded confidence of the party's landslide win in the Delhi Assembly polls.
"I am very grateful to the respected Prime Minister Mr. @narendramodi ji, National President Mr. @JPNadda ji and the national and state leadership of the party for making me the BJP candidate from the holy land of Karawal Nagar on the sacred day of Ramlala's Pran Pratishtha. This time saffron will wave in Delhi assembly, on 8 February a government of Ram devotees will be formed in Delhi," Mishra posted.
The BJP had released the first list of 29 candidates for Delhi polls on 29 January. The prominent leaders announced in the first list include Lok Sabha MP Parvesh Verma, who will challenge AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, and BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri, who will face Delhi Chief Minister Atishi in Kalkaji.
Delhi’s Assembly elections will be held on 5 February, with results scheduled to be announced on 8 February.
The BJP, out of power in the capital since 1998, is eyeing a return, while the AAP is aiming for a third consecutive term.
