Karnataka Allocates Rs 100 Crore For Historic Yadgir Fort Revamp Under ‘One District, One Spot’ Tourism Project

The Karnataka government has announced plans to develop the historic fort situated in the heart of Yadgir old city at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore under the ambitious ‘One District, One Spot’ initiative, according to MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur.
Following a recent visit by Tourism Minister H K Patil, the Tourism Department has prioritized this project, with a detailed blueprint already in place, Channareddy told The Hindu.
The funding for the project will be split, with Rs 33 crore allocated through the MLA grant and the remaining Rs 67 crore provided by the state government. The initiative aims to transform the fort into a significant tourism attraction, boosting the district’s visibility and economic prospects.
In addition to the fort’s development, plans are underway to construct a ropeway at the Mailaralingeshwar Temple in Mailapur village. The temple draws devotees from Karnataka and neighboring states, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra, making it a key pilgrimage site.
Tunnur emphasised that technical surveys, to be conducted by experts, will guide the next steps for the ropeway project, ensuring its seamless implementation.
These efforts reflect the state’s broader vision of enhancing tourism infrastructure, leveraging historical and cultural landmarks to attract visitors and foster regional development.
