The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Karnataka unit is set to organise statewide protests on Monday (22 April) over the murder of Neha Hiremath in an alleged case of 'Love Jihad'.

Neha, daughter of Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremath, was brutally stabbed to death by a former college classmate, Fayaz Khondunaik, who confessed to the crime during interrogation.

While Niranjan accepted 'Love Jihad' as the reason for her daughter's death, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara downplayed such assertions.

BJP national president J P Nadda met the family members of Neha who was murdered in her Hubballi college on Sunday. The party's state president B Y Vijayendra attacked the Congress government.

"Abysmal handling of Law and Order in the State is glaringly evident, that reminds one of the sorry state of affairs in PAKISTAN & AFGHANISTAN!," Vijayendra posted alleging Congress has blood on its hand.
