Karnataka's Housing, Waqf, and Minority Welfare Minister, B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan
Karnataka's Housing, Waqf and Minority Welfare Minister, B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan, has been issued a notice by the Karnataka Lokayukta police in connection with an disproportionate assets case.
The senior Congress leader has reportedly been summoned to appear for questioning on 3 December.
“This is a routine notice as part of the ongoing investigation. We need to record his statement regarding certain aspects of the case,” a Lokayukta police officer was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
The inquiry stems from a 2021 case initiated after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on properties linked to Khan following revelations in the IMA ponzi scam.
The ED’s findings reportedly revealed a Rs 9.38 crore transaction via cheque between Khan and IMA promoter Mansoor Ali Khan
The ED subsequently submitted its findings to the now-defunct Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which filed a case in 2022. After the dissolution of the ACB, the case was transferred to the Karnataka Lokayukta.
In November 2023, the Karnataka High Court dismissed Khan's petition challenging the investigation, allowing the probe to proceed. The case, then, continues to unfold as authorities delve deeper into the matter.
