Kerala: Congress Veteran C Raghunath Parts Ways With The Party After Five Decades, Joins BJP

In a significant move, veteran Congress leader from Kerala C Raghunath has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking the end of his enduring five-decade-long association with the Congress.

Raghunath, formerly the Kannur District Congress Committee (DCC) general secretary, had contested against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as a UDF (United Democratic Front) candidate from the Dharmadom constituency in the last assembly elections.

Raghunath's decision to leave the Congress was announced earlier this month on Facebook, where he expressed disillusionment with the party.

Despite his departure from the Congress, he emphasised his commitment to remaining actively involved in Kannur's district politics.

The move is expected to have implications for local politics, with Raghunath bringing his wealth of experience and influence to Bharatiya Janata Party.
