Khalistani terrorist Happy Passia will soon be extradited from the United States to India, according to central security sources. He is currently in US custody and is expected to land at Delhi Airport under high-security arrangements, India Today reported.
US authorities arrested Passia on 17 April in Sacramento, California, after prolonged cooperation with Indian agencies. He is accused of involvement in several terror attacks in Punjab, mainly targeting police stations and public sites.
According to the report, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had declared Passia a wanted terrorist, announcing a Rs 5 lakh reward for information on him in cases such as the Chandigarh grenade attack.
Intelligence sources allege Passia had direct ties to Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and received backing from Babbar Khalsa International and Harvinder Singh Rinda’s group. He is accused of planning grenade attacks and other acts of violence across Punjab over two years.
After his extradition, Passia will be presented in Indian courts and prosecuted under anti-terror laws, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Officials expect that Passia’s interrogation could reveal information about a broader global terror network involving Pakistan’s ISI and foreign-based Khalistani groups.
Between 2024 and 2025, Passia is believed to have been involved in over 14 terror incidents in Punjab, mainly aimed at police stations and security personnel. These include grenade attacks in Ajnala, Gurbakhsh Nagar, and Majitha, as well as a temple attack in Amritsar that led to a police encounter.
