Kolkata: Mob Storms RG Kar Hospital, Disrupts Midnight Protest Over Doctor’s Rape-Murder

A midnight protest at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, held in response to the rape and murder of a junior doctor, was violently disrupted by a mob of miscreants on Wednesday (14 August).

The protesters, including several doctors, had gathered under the banner ‘Reclaim the Night’ to demand safer public spaces for women and justice for the victim.

However, around midnight, a large group of men stormed the hospital premises, attacking the demonstrators and vandalizing property.

The protesters, caught off guard, were forced to flee, while the police allegedly stood by without intervening.

The situation escalated quickly, leaving the protesters shaken and raising concerns about the safety of those seeking justice for the heinous crime.
