Kolkata Rape And Murder Accused Sanjay Roy Claims Innocence In Polygraph Test, Appears To Be Unnerved And Anxious

The polygraph test on Sanjay Roy by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) found that his claim to innocence in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor is "false and unconvincing."

Roy, a civic worker, is accused of raping and murdering the 31-year-old second-year postgraduate doctor after which, her dead body was found in the seminar hall of the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

Earlier, he was reported to have accepted his crime and gave details about the sequence of events to the Kolkata Police. However, after the case was transferred to the CBI by Calcutta High Court, he began claiming innocence.

While the CBI questioned Roy on the basis of multiple pieces of evidence found, Roy cites "alibis" in his defence. He claimed that the victim was already dead when he reached the seminar hall and then ran out of fear.

The CBI is also investigating the former principal of the college, Dr Sandip Ghosh for financial irregularities during his tenure and in the rape and murder case as he allegedly tried to downplay the crime earlier.
