After coming up with 'Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana' for women, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced an internship scheme for unemployed youth ahead of the Assembly elections.

Touted as 'Ladka Bhau Yojana', the scheme will provide on-the-job training with monthly stipends to men and women both. There are three levels of stipends.

Class 12 pass students will get a stipend of Rs 6,000 monthly, diploma holders will get Rs 8,000 monthly and degree holders (graduates) will get Rs 10,000 monthly.


However, the internship scheme is not exclusively for males. It comes under Mukhya Mantri Yuva Karya-Prashikshan Yojana, which aims to skill youth.

The apprenticeship program seeks to offer candidates practical work experience while supplying industries with skilled manpower. Training will be available in both industrial and non-industrial settings.

The scheme aims to benefit 10 lakh youth, many of them will be first-time voters. The age limit to avail of this scheme is 18 to 35 years. The person should be a resident of Maharashtra with a bank account linked to Aadhar.
