Amid an intensifying leadership crisis within the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), party president Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday (15 June 2025) publicly sought forgiveness from his father and party founder S Ramadoss, even as the latter continued reasserting control over key party appointments.

As per a report by The Hindu, while speaking at the Tiruvallur district general council meeting, Anbumani said, ''If Ayya (Ramadoss) is angry with me, I sincerely ask for his forgiveness. There is nothing big in apologising to father....'' He expressed his commitment to carry forward his father’s 45-year legacy and indicated that he intended to remain in the post of president.

The apology came days after Ramadoss publicly criticised Anbumani for what he called poor leadership, including forcing an alliance with the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In April, PMK founder Ramadoss removed Anbumani from the formal party president’s post and has since reshuffled several key positions within the organisation.

Ramadoss also criticised Ravanan for his absence from recent party activities, saying, “I will give Rs 100 to anyone who can find PMK general secretary Vadivel Ravanan.” Ravanan had attended meetings with Anbumani over the weekend.

Senior leaders including MLA Arul Ramadas, P T Arulmozhi of the Vanniyar Sangam, and honorary president G K Mani were present at Thailapuram. Mani said a peaceful resolution was essential and that “both sides must sit together and talk openly.”

Anbumani also used the platform to criticise the DMK government, accusing it of planning to hand over thousands of acres in Tiruvallur to a foreign firm under the guise of building a “knowledge city.” He urged cadres to expand the party base ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, expressing confidence in the victory of the alliance that the PMK would join.
