Lok Sabha Polls: Congress Targets 100 Constituencies In 15 States With Support From 'Civil Society' Groups

The Congress Party is gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls with a unique strategy, as it seeks to strengthen its organizational strength.
The party has instructed its state units to collaborate with civil society organizations operating under the banner of 'Bharat Jodo Abhiyan' (BJA).
The BJA, a coalition of activists and civil society outfits, is also actively engaged in supporting the Congress's ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi.
As reported by Business Standard, Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal, in a letter addressed to state units on Monday (15 January), urged the units to respond positively to BJA teams and appoint designated point persons to facilitate effective coordination between the BJA and the party.
This strategic alliance signifies the Congress's effort to tap into the support of civil society organizations to strengthen its grassroots outreach in the run-up to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Meanwhile, Several allies of the Congress within the INDI bloc have either rejected the party's invitations to participate in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra or conveyed their reluctance to join.
On Wednesday ( 17 January), Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed that he is "unlikely" to join the yatra during its journey through Uttar Pradesh.
