Madhya Pradesh's Anti-Paper Leak Measures To Include Tougher Penalties Than Central Law — All You Need To Know

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced new measures to combat paper leaks in the state, proposing a law with a 10-year jail term and Rs 1 crore fine, categorising it as a non-bailable offence.
At an event in Bhopal, Yadav stated, "Very soon, a proposal will come that there will be 10 years' imprisonment and strict action," NDTV reported.
The proposed state law is stricter than the Central anti-paper leak law, which prescribes three to five years of imprisonment for those guilty of cheating, and five to 10 years of imprisonment with a minimum Rs 1 crore fine for those organising the cheating.
The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2024, was passed by the Rajya Sabha on 9 February and the Lok Sabha on 6 February.
Yadav also announced that state ministers, including himself, will now pay their own income tax. This decision was taken last week in a Cabinet meeting chaired by the Madhya Pradesh CM.
"I am satisfied that now our ministers will pay their own income tax. We are not royals. We are elected people. We come from the middle of society and understand the value of tax collection," Yadav said.
