MahaMetro To Prepare DPR For New Shivajinagar-Kondhwa Metro Line With Spur To NIBM

Pune is set to see enhanced urban mobility as MahaMetro moves forward with plans for a 20 km Metro corridor connecting Shivajinagar to Kondhwa, with an additional spur to the NIBM area.
The detailed project report (DPR) for this extension is expected within three months following the appointment of the consulting agency, reported Times of India.
The new line, designed to improve connectivity across Kondhwa, NIBM, and Yewalewadi, will act as an extension of the ongoing Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro (PMR-3) project, being executed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model by Tata.
"The tenders are in, and we are in the final stages to appoint the agency," a MahaMetro official was quoted as saying.
Once prepared, the DPR will be submitted to the state government and then forwarded to the Centre for approval, with the state taking the final call.
MLC Yogesh Tilekar, who raised the demand in the recent monsoon session, said, "A dedicated Metro line is essential for this growing area. Authorities should begin a study for this line at the earliest to know the traffic issues and reduce the chaos by implementing the Metro plan.”
MahaMetro officials also noted that plans are underway to extend the Hadapsar line to Saswad as part of Line-4, linking the upcoming Purandar airport and enhancing connectivity across the city’s western, southern, and eastern zones.
