Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation (MKVDC) has awarded a Rs 958.33 crore contract to Patel Engineering Ltd (PEL) and its joint venture partner for constructing a major irrigation pipeline network in Satara district.

The project involves building a Pipe Distribution Network from KM 87 to KM 135 of the Nira Deoghar Right Bank Main Canal, including associated distributaries and minor canals between KM 65 and KM 135.

PEL had previously emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the contract.

To be executed in Village Kalaj in Satara's Phaltan taluka, the project is slated for completion within 36 months.

PEL holds a 20 per cent stake in the joint venture responsible for delivering the work.

After construction, the contractor will manage operations, repairs, and maintenance for five years.

"We are pleased to have been awarded this project by the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation. This project represents a significant step forward in enhancing irrigation infrastructure in the region and will play a crucial role in improving agricultural productivity and water management efficiency," said Kavita Shirvaikar, Managing Director, Patel Engineering Ltd.

The project is part of Maharashtra’s broader push to expand and modernise its irrigation networks, aiming to deliver reliable water access to its farming communities.
