The Maharashtra Cabinet on Tuesday (22 April) approved a slew of significant decisions spanning infrastructure, labour laws, education, and rural empowerment, reported ANI.

A highlight of the meeting was the approval of a memorial and women's training centre in honour of reformer Savitribai Phule in Satara district.

While Rs 142.60 crore was sanctioned for the memorial, an additional Rs 67.17 lakh will fund the skill-development training centre dedicated to women.

Infrastructure development received a major boost with revised administrative approval for the Gosikhurd National Project in Bhandara, backed by an outlay of Rs 25,972.69 crore.

The Labour Department has been tasked with drafting a comprehensive Maharashtra Labour Code, modernising outdated state labour laws to reflect current industrial demands.

The honorarium for contractual legal officers under the Revenue Department has been raised from Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,000.

Recognising the role of fisheries in rural livelihoods, the sector will now enjoy the same policy status as agriculture, complete with infrastructure and concessions to encourage growth.

A significant policy change in slum rehabilitation will ensure fair housing allocation for those displaced due to infrastructure projects.

The Public Works Department received the green light for a vital transport corridor in Pune—four-lane elevated and ground roads from Talegaon to Chakan, and a six-lane ground road from Chakan to Shikrapur.
